Japanese Anime are part of most Emiratie’s life

An Emirati college student is addicted to anime for about 14 years. Anime gave her positive motivation in life.

Abu Dhabi, UAE — Anime nowadays influenced a lot of Emiratis it gave them motivation in their life and their personality. Anime has freedom of expression when telling the stories to any audience and for any genre, and this is what made most Emiratis attracted to it and be addicted to it. Emirates start to love anime when Dragon ball, Astro Boy, Sailor Moon, and Slam Dunk aired on Spacetoon.

A college student obsessed with anime, Asma Al Mansoori, 24, changed her life and gave her positive vibes in her life.

“There are many aspects of how anime changed my life, but to be honest the values I got from each anime had impacted my life,” Asma said.

Asma pointed on the One-Piece anime that the value in the anime is not giving up on your goals no matter what. “If you kept achieving and kept going you will reach the skies with a little hope and the support of friends, you will reach your dreams,” she said.

“How the Japanese or anime affected my personality as an Emirati?” she said, “I would say in terms of the language where I am very intrigued to learn and practice it daily beside my local Emirati language.”

Anime has a way of displaying positive vibes even if the anime’s storyline has a dark sense to it, you still see the main character tackles their issues with a smile. It is a huge stress reliever and can be a way of escaping the world for a while and just focus on whether the main characters will survive or not.

She thinks anime-influenced on the way she thinks about her culture, that most the Emirati people are calling themselves weebes very proudly.

Al Mansoori thinks that The Emirati culture has various diversities from the Japanese culture, but both meet on the aspects of family and respect of the elders. She believes in terms of religion; anime did not influence her beliefs in Allah.

Since people have become influenced by anime, many of them attend the Comic-Con from all nationalities in Dubai, people always enjoy attending the event in costumes for anime characters.

Anime old days in last 1900’s was a good motivation for the audience in their life, and it’s still a motivation for this generation in their lives. It relieves school stress, work, psychological problems, and even family problems.
